For the sixth time “English in Action” took place at MS Kössen. From Monday, 15th to Friday, 19th of April English was the first language at MS Kössen. This year 68 children took part in this great educational event – 35 3rd formers and 33 4th formers. They were divided into four groups (16-18 participants each).

Four English native speakers taught the children: Dale and Olivia from Scotland, James and Lucy from England. They really appreciated our pupils’ enthusiasm. And they also liked their beautiful accommodation and the gorgeous mountain views in Kössen.

Every day children did various activities, played interesting language games, discussed different topics and wrote own texts. They learned a lot about England, the landmarks of its capital and they talked about their perfect day in London. The participants took part in quizzes about English speaking countries, discussed festivals, events and exciting historical facts. One group even enjoyed a traditional tea ceremony with their English native teacher, Olivia! The children got an unforgettable experience by recording their own news reports, creating own comics and playing games.

On Friday the pupils presented their shows which they had prepared the whole week. The 3rd formers performed “The singing dog”, “A boy alone at home”, “The monster at the school trip” and “The Mafia boss”. The 4th formers presented “The SpongeBob-formula”, “The wrong bus”, “The final of Germany`s next top model” and “The TV-show”.  Teachers and parents were invited and seemed to have much fun and the actresses and actors got a lot of applause. At the end of the final show all participants received their English-in-Action-certificates which could be useful in the future.

Such an intensive language activity, level A2-B1, improves children’s communication skills, increases their confidence and competence in writing, talking and listening.

We are looking forward to another English in Action-week next year.
